DeKalb Park District executive director has resigned, says board commissioner; details remain unknown

Park board secretary: New executive director search, hiring process to be determined

DeKALB – DeKalb Park District Executive Director Amy Doll has resigned, confirmed a district board commissioner Wednesday, though details surrounding the resignation remain unknown and the park board did not release additional information.

Gail Krmenec, secretary for the DeKalb Park District Board of Commissioners, wrote in a Wednesday email to the Daily Chronicle that Doll, and district officials will soon begin looking for a new temporary executive director to fill the role.

"The park district thanks her for her contributions and wishes her the best," Krmenec wrote. "A temporary executive director will be named soon."

When asked, Krmenec did not provide additional details of when Doll resigned, nor whether there was a reason given for her resignation and what those reasons were. She also declined to provide additional details when asked what the terms of Doll's resignation entail.

"With regard to your additional questions, we don't comment on employees," Krmenec wrote.

As of 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, Doll was not listed on the park district's staff directory on its website. There also was no job listing for the executive director position on the park district website. Krmenec wrote board commissioners have not yet determined a timeline of the search and hiring process for the new executive director.

According to the park district's website, Doll was hired by the district in September 2014 as the recreation superintendent. She was appointed as the park district's executive director in May 2016.

Doll was not immediately available for comment when Daily Chronicle attempted outreach.

Several park board meeting agendas after Oct. 15 list executive, or closed to the public, sessions to discuss "personnel matters," though it is unclear whether that relates to Doll's position directly. As of 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Krmenec has not yet clarified when asked whether Doll's position was addressed publicly in any recent park district board meetings.

Park board president Phil Young did not immediately respond to request for comment from Daily Chronicle on Wednesday. Park board vice president Dean Holliday and commissioners Dag Grada and Doug Eaton were not immediately available for comment when Daily Chronicle attempted outreach.
