Christmas Tree Lane in downtown Crystal Lake is back for another season with 30 custom-decorated trees lining the path around the gazebo in Depot Park by the downtown Metra station.
Each tree features a theme based on the sponsor, some offering "gifts, knowledge [or] silliness," but "all are spectacularly trimmed," according to a news release.
Sponsors include area churches, nonprofits, service groups and businesses, including Bethany Lutheran Church, which has a tree stocked daily with gloves that visitors can take, according to the release.
The Kiwanis Club is giving children’s books at its tree. On Angels Wings features pet treats. A tree honoring Ruth Bader Ginsburg was set up by the American Association of University Women.
Christmas Tree Lane offers another festive treat for families visiting Santa's House in Brink Street Market.
“It’s an inspiration to see the care and love put into each tree,” Downtown Crystal Lake Executive Director Diana Kenney said in a news release. “Families are coming downtown specifically to see Christmas Tree Lane because it is very walkable and in a beautifully lit park in the heart of Crystal Lake.”
The trees will be on display until Dec. 31.
A complete list of all tree sponsors and photos of the trees can be found on the Downtown Crystal Lake website, www.DowntownCL.org, or on its Facebook page.
