Sauk Valley reports 4 COVID-related deaths, 247 new cases Monday

The Sauk Valley reported four new coronavirus deaths and 247 cases Monday.

The Whiteside County Health Department announced 20 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, as well as 75 recoveries. The new cases involved one person under 20, six in their 20s, one in their 30s, five in their 40s, two in their 50s, four in their 60s and one over the age of 80.

For the week ending Sunday, Whiteside County had 198 new cases, down from the 251 the previous week. The under-20 age group saw a slight uptick from 31 to 39 cases, and there were slight increases in the 70-79 and 80+ age groups, but all others saw decreases, with the 60-69 age group seeing half as many new cases (20) last week as it did in the previous week.

For the two-week period ending Sunday, Whiteside County had 449 new cases, down significantly from the 832 of the previous two weeks, with declined in every age group.

Lee County on Monday announced two COVID-related deaths of men in their 60s and 90s.

Lee County announced 98 new cases for Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Of those, 27 are from Dixon Correctional Center. There were also 42 Lee County residents lifted off of isolation.

Lee County's new cases involved one child younger than 12, six teens, 13 people in their 20s, seven in their 30s, 13 in their 40s, eight in their 50s, 10 in their 60s, six in their 70s, six in their 80s and one in their 90s.

Ogle County announced a pair of COVID-related deaths on Monday of a woman in her 90s and a man in his 70s. Ogle County also had 115 new cases and 92 recoveries.

Carroll County announced 14 new cases with two teens, two people in their 20s, one in their 30s, two in their 40s, one in their 50s, two in their 60s, one in their 70s and three in their 80s.

Whiteside County has had 4,349 cases, 2,850 recoveries and 110 deaths. Lee County has had 2,243 cases, 1,701 recoveries and 41 deaths. Ogle County has had 3,460 cases, 2,757 recoveries and 48 deaths. Carroll County has had 1,222 cases, 1,154 recoveries and 28 deaths.

The North region (Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside and Winnebago counties) has seen one day under 12% positivity. The region's positivity rate decreased significantly to 11.1%. Currently, 29.3% of medical/surgical beds are available and 20.7% of ICU beds.

The region has one day above the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability, and 11 consecutive days above the 20% threshold for medical/surgical bed availability.

Region 1 has a rolling, seven-day average of 215 COVID-19 patients in the hospital. Hospitalizations have decreased 10 out of the past 10 days in this region.

Within this region, Lee County's rate dropped to 7.9%, and Whiteside County's rate decreased to 9.4%.

Within the region, there are 44 available, staffed ICU beds out of 179 total.

Illinois on Monday announced 7,214 new cases and 103 deaths. The state has had 856,118 cases and 14,394 deaths.

Sterling has had 13,284 tests and 1,629 cases. Rock Falls has had 6,244 tests and 940 cases. Dixon has had 17,047 tests and 1,591 cases. Rochelle has had 7,652 tests and 1,101 cases.
