KANE COUNTY – A former Aurora resident has been found guilty of threatening a public official.
According to a news release from State's Attorney Jamie Mosser's office, James L. Warren, 48, posted on his Facebook page threats to kill a Kane County Judge on June 26, 2018. At the time, the judge was presiding over a family court case involving Warren. He also posted threatening comments on his page on June 28, 2018 and on July 24, 2018.
Judge Philip G. Montgomery, visiting judge from the 23rd Judicial Circuit, heard the case because the victim is a Kane County Judge. Warren waived his right to a jury trial.
Warren faces a sentence of probation or between two and five years in jail.
