Bureau County election filing begins for April Consolidated Election

Five candidates file for Spring Valley Mayor position on first day

PRINCETON — Bureau County courthouse had a handful of school board election petitions filed on the first day of the filing period, the city of Princeton not so much.

County Clerk Matt Eggers received petitions Monday morning for the Ladd School Board from Jane Picatto, Paul Quinn and Jessica Grubar. Spring Valley Elementary School Board had petitions filed by Ted Urbanoski and James Faletti.

Princeton High School's Colleen Sailer and John Young filed petitions to remain on the school board and newcomer Catherine Dye filed a petition for Princeton Elementary School Board.

Jennifer Schnaiter filed her petition for Princeton City Council for one of two upcoming expiring terms. City Clerk Pete Nelson reported Schnaiter was the only petition turned in Monday morning.

Spring Valley City Clerk Becky Hansen reported brisk traffic at her office for first filings.

Edward Jauch, Melanie Malooley Thompson, Mark Venegas and Frederick Frank West filed at 9 a.m. for the mayor's position, so a lottery drawing will be held at 9 a.m. on Dec. 28 to determine ballot position. John French also filed a petition for mayor Monday and will be the fifth ballot position.

Also filing: City Clerk, Rebecca Hansen; City Treasurer, John "Jack" Boroski; 2nd Ward Alderman, Jeff Chiaventone; 3rd Ward Alderman, Jeff Janusick (first on ballot) and Gregory D. Campbell (second on ballot).
