The Starved Rock Country Community Foundation gave $11,000 in grants to two local organizations through the Women’s Inspired Network.
Chairwoman of the Women’s Inspired Network Cathryn Steele said the network would normally hold a bigger presentation but had to adjust because of the pandemic.
“The award presentation was altered due to COVID, so we were unable to really celebrate the awards,” Steele said. “We plan on a much bigger celebration once we are able to get together in person so we can give these two organizations the celebration they deserve.”
WIN is a women’s giving circle operated by the foundations that makes annual contributions to help empower and enhance the quality of life throughout the community. It’s mission is to “connect people who care with causes that matter.”
WIN issued a $10,000 grant to Freedom House for free counseling services for victims of domestic violence.
They also presented a $1,000 grant to Starved Rock Center for Therapy and Development for purchase of developmental toys for their participants.
President and CEO of SRCCF Clete Winkelmann said the organization is happy to be able to give back to other organizations that help strengthen the community.
“We are so pleased to be able to assist these two wonderful organizations,” Winkelmann said. “Both organizations provide such important services to our community, and without their services, many individuals would go without these services.”
