Illinois public health officials on Sunday reported 286 new cases of COVID-19 in Kane County and five new deaths.
The deaths included a man in his 60s, three men in their 70s and a woman in her 80s. Kane County saw 286 new cases on Sunday, a drop from the 430 cases reported on Saturday and the 422 cases reported on Friday.
Kane County has now seen 34,411 total cases of the virus and 462 people have died.
The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen zero consecutive days under the 12% threshold to return to Tier 2 mitigations. The region's positivity rate increased slightly to 13.2%.
The positivity rate is the percentage of people who test positive out of all the people tested in a given time period. Within this region, Kane County's seven-day positivity average is at 14.8%, and DuPage County is at 12.5%.
Currently, 14.1% of medical/surgical beds are available and 21.1% of ICU beds. Within the DuPage/Kane region, there are 71 available, staffed ICU beds out of 344 total.
The region has ten consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability, and six consecutive days under the 20% threshold for medical/surgical bed availability.
The Kane/DuPage region has a rolling, seven-day average of 613 COVID-19 patients in the hospital. Hospitalizations have decreased 10 out of the past 10 days in this region.
