COVID-19 cases continue to climb at Oswego long-term care facility

A COVID-19 outbreak at a Kendall County long-term care facility has continued in recent weeks, infecting 16 additional residents.

Bickford of Oswego Assisted Living & Memory Care, 3712 Grove Road, Oswego, has recorded 43 cases of the virus over the past month with three deaths according to an Illinois Department of Public Health database.

Bickford of Oswego did not a return request for comment, but it has previously referred the Record Newspapers to COVID-19 information listed on its website in addition to the Kendall County Health Department. According to Bickford's website, its Oswego facility requires twice-a-day temperature checks, mandatory PPE and isolation of infected residents.

The website also lists 13 active COVID-19 cases at the facility and 48 total cases as of Dec. 2.

Bickford of Oswego's ongoing outbreak is the county's second largest in a long-term facility since the onset of the pandemic in March. During the spring and summer, Symphony at the Tillers of Oswego recorded the county's biggest outbreak with 50 cases and nine deaths, according to the IDPH.

Kendall County's long-term care facilities still account for only a small fraction of the county's total COVID-19 cases in recent weeks. From Nov. 23 to Nov. 30, the county health department reported over 580 new COVID-19 cases among county residents, including three deaths.
