DeKALB - DeKalb police are investigating an attempted child abduction of a 10-year-old on Loren Drive, and are on the lookout for a green conversion van with a white pin stripe above the wheel well, according to a citywide alert sent around 5:50 p.m. Wednesday.
DeKalb Acting Police Chief said a 10-year-old boy called DeKalb police Wednesday afternoon reporting the abduction.
"A 10-year-old reported that two males in a van forced him into the car and the car drove a mile or two," Redel said. "Down by Schnucks he was able to jump out of the car."
Redel said police are still investigating the incident and are urging anyone who may have seen the car around the 100 block of Loren Drive, where the incident reportedly happened, to contact DeKalb police with details.
The boy did not report any injuries, Redel said. The boy lives off of Annie Glidden Road over by the village in the subdivision across the street from where it occurred, Redel said, and was outside at the time when the two men asked him to help them with something.
If you have seen the vehicle or have any information relevant to the case, Redel asks those to call DeKalb police at 815-748-8400 or if they don't feel comfortable talking to a police officer, call DeKalb County Crimestoppers at 815-895-3272. Tips can be anonymous.
