To the editor:
Approximately 1 week following the election, the Dixon High School publication, the Dixini, arrived with the Telegraph. The writing by DHS student journalists was refreshing and enjoyable reading.
Details of student studies and life are revealed uniquely that are not the realm of a community publication, so Shaw Media deserves credit for including the monthly Dixini during the school year.
Uplifting was the Dixini's "Views of the News" compared to "It's Your Write" in the Telegraph. Eight DHS journalists expounded on topics including checking emails, parking stickers, Black Fridays, mask wearing, internet access by youth 13 and under, and laws to protect against hate speech. Those articles were civilly and thoughtfully commented on by Zara Shuey, Thomas Koski, Thalia Wolber, Emiah Diaz, Dominic Lozano and Katherine Bailey, respectively.
How could "mindfulness" not become an everyday word to guide what comes out of our mouths? Thank you for your awesome development on a totally forgotten positive noun, Riley Bally. Mario Howard, without an offensive word, logically, defended his view that "change will happen, no matter what."
A few subscribers took umbrage with Shaw Media for its Biden endorsement. One particular adult and his rant in "Your Write" Oct 7 could not pass muster for sensibility with an average middle school student.
Using "creepy hair-sniffing Biden," coined by DJT Jr. to start his remarks and then end by using "basement Biden" coined by DJT in his final sentence "urging the public to think for itself and do its own research" doesn't pass for logic or mindfulness.
To the Dixon commenter who repeats tiresome, unkind jargon, please read and learn what some DHS youth are intimating through their worthy writing. Parrots have not the capacity for logic nor mindfulness.
