The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office responded to the complaint of a domestic disturbance on Nov. 15, at 8:55 a.m., that had occurred earlier that morning in McNabb.
During the course of the investigation, it was learned that a non-custodial parent, Kevin A. Delhotal, 32, had left the scene of the domestic disturbance with a 2-month-old boy.
Efforts were made to have Delhotal meet with the sheriff’s office to ensure the safety of the child. These efforts were met with negative results. Due to statements reported to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, the criteria was met to disseminate an Amber Alert to make contact with Delhotal to ensure the safe return of the child.
On Nov. 15, at 2:15 p.m., Delhotal was located in Glenwood by the Glenwood Police Department. Delhotal was taken into custody without incident. The child was recovered unharmed.
Delhotal is currently in custody awaiting a bond hearing. At this time, Delhotal is being charged with domestic battery. The investigation is ongoing and further charges may be forthcoming.
The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Illinois State Police, Spring Valley Police Department, LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office, Glenwood Police Department, Granville Police Department, Putnam County State’s Attorney, Marshall County State’s Attorney and the public for their assistance in the safe return of the child.
