Resource Bank president, CEO receive NSDAR award

LELAND – The Gen. John Stark Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution in Sycamore presented Resource Bank President Richard Katz and CEO Diana Shott with Excellence in Historic Preservation awards on Oct. 20.

They received this award for their efforts to preserve the Rollo One-Room Schoolhouse and the Yocklich Building in Leland. The restored Yocklich Building, a former harness and carriage accessories shop built in the 1800s, now houses the new Resource Bank branch in Leland. The attached Rollo One-Room Schoolhouse, built in 1857, is used as a public-use community room within the branch.

The NSDAR is a women’s service organization dedicated to promoting historic preservation, education, patriotism and honoring the patriots of the Revolutionary War. The Excellence in Historic Preservation award is a new honor created in an effort to recognize outstanding individuals and organizations that promote historic preservation. This recognition is used to honor individuals in groups that have saved and/or preserved their local history, including restoration of buildings, collections, significant objects, monuments, cemeteries and other important artifacts.

Richard Katz and Diana Shott are the first recipients of the award.
