High school sports roundup for Wednesday, Oct. 21

Huntley's Ella Young won three individual events Wednesday as the Red Raiders defeated Cary-Grove, 90-37, at Sage YMCA in Crystal Lake to complete a perfect dual meet season in the Fox Valley Conference.

Huntley, which won seven of eight events Wednesday, beat every team twice to go 12-0 in FVC duals. The Raiders have not lost in conference meets since the start of 2019. An end-of-season conference invite was not held this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Young finished first in the 200-yard individual medley (2:19.80), 100 butterfly (1:00.66), and 100 backstroke (1:04.76).

Raquel Salinas picked up victories in the 200 free (2:05.09) and 500 free (5:41.59), Ashley Garrard won the 50 free (26.79) and Cora Chesney won the 100 breaststroke (1:16.06) for Huntley.

Emily Marks was first in the 100 free (57.82) for C-G.

Huntley and C-G, along with Crystal Lake South co-op, Dundee-Crown and Jacobs co-op, will compete Saturday at the Stevenson Sectional, the culminating event of the season.
