High school girls tennis: Rain slows Class 2A Cary-Grove Sectional, play to resume at 9 a.m. Saturday

Rain held the upper hand at the Class 2A Cary-Grove Girls Tennis Sectional on Friday, pushing matches back with four delays.

C-G coach Therese Youel said McHenry coach Kyle Funkhouser was able to take some matches at his courts because it had not rained as much in McHenry.

One round-of-16 match is yet to be completed. Most quarterfinals matches will start at 9 a.m. Saturday at C-G.

Jacobs’ Chloe Siegfort and Isha Desai, Dundee-Crowns’ Rujul Shah, Huntley’s Ruhi Gulati and Elaina Hibbeler and Crystal Lake Central’s Ellie McGinnis advanced to the singles quarterfinals.

In doubles, Jacobs’ Kaya Trumbo/Lara Santa Ines and Sam Seibert/Alison Gerhardt, Central’s Haley Benard/Emma Grindstaff and Olivia Johnson/Megan Rapisardsa, Crystal Lake South’s Anna Chang/Jaden Appelhans, Cary-Grove’s Kate Larry/Katie Jannusch and Huntley’s Michelle Barnvos/Kylie Phommasack advanced to quarterfinals.
