A 34-year-old Ingleside man who punched a police officer in the face was sentenced to seven years in prison Thursday after violating his probation.
Joshua W. Marksberry was arrested in 2015 after police said he kicked a Prairie Grove police officer and punched him in the face. He also was accused of kicking another officer at the scene, court records show.
Marksberry originally had been sentenced to a period of probation on the 2015 charge of aggravated battery to a peace officer, according to a news release from the McHenry County State's Attorney's Office.
Since then, Marksberry has been charged with aggravated battery in Lake County, and in light of new charges, McHenry County Judge Michael Coppedge revoked Marksberry's probation Thursday, according to the release. Coppedge in turn resentenced Marksberry to seven years in prison.
Both the original sentence and Thursday's revised sentence were the result of a plea deal with the McHenry County State's Attorney's Office.
