To the Editor:
As a La Salle County resident, a taxpayer, and a retired teacher, I would like to express my support for Nikki Baer, who is running for La Salle County Auditor. With 20 years of experience in banking, and her current work as Deputy Auditor in Accounts Payable for the county, she has the background and the knowledge needed to serve as Auditor for the people of La Salle (County).
Her opponent, activist Stephanie Thompson, on the other hand, may not have the background or the suitability for the complicated work of auditor. Her history with Wedron, the environmental controversy over sand fracking, and benzene in the water table may be a shadow over her candidacy. It is a story of 30 years duration, but locals still have a stake in the matter.
Nikki Baer has the knowledge, the temperament, and the will to do a first-class job as Auditor. Handling millions of dollars of taxpayers’ money, she is the public servant that I want to see in that office.
