Mundy Park at The Venue in Aurora to present Lil’ Ed, Toronzo Cannon, Dickie

The Venue music performance space in Aurora will host more shows in adjacent Mundy Park throughout the month of October.

A strong lineup of blues, rock, Americana and alternative artists will be presented with the best audio in the Fox Valley, Dave Glynn, president of the Fox Valley Music Foundation, stated in a news release.

Tickets range from $10 to $20 and shows begin at 8 p.m., unless otherwise noted below. Social distancing rules will be in effect in the roomy outdoor park that has professional sound and lights supplied by The Venue. Beverages will be sold; be sure to bring bag chairs and blankets, organizers advise. Glynn compares the experience to being "just like a football game for music lovers."

Thursday, Oct. 15: Dickie – Lush, textured, thoughtful music that persuades you and takes you away; sits in the Wilco, The Lumineers and My Morning Jacket spectrum (Tip: these guys will be filling stadiums soon). Tickets cost $15. Show starts at 7 p.m.

• Friday, Oct. 16: Piece of Cakesingle release – Five-piece indie, bouncy, pop. Mixes soulful brass with a modernized Spencer Davis feel. Show starts at 7 p.m.

Indoor November shows at The Venue include the 20th anniversary of the Empty Can Band, a benefit honoring drummer Paul Wegman to raise funds for pancreatic cancer research – two shows planned back-to-back Saturday, Nov. 14. Kashmir, the premier Illinois Led Zeppelin tribute band, has sold out its Nov. 21 show. More announcements are planned, including a performance by Howard and the White Boys on Nov. 6. Tickets will go fast because of the reduced capacity seating of 50 in the 200-seat space.
