Rockets roll to third place at State Farm

Cougar girls win twice in Rockford; Fulton, Morrison boys finish with wins at Erie

The Rock Falls girls basketball team finished third in the small-school girls bracket at the State Farm Classic with a 45-26 win over Rochester on Monday morning at the Shirk Center.

The Rockets led 13-7 after the first quarter, and expanded that advantage to 30-11 by halftime. Karli Fischbach led Rock Falls with 12 points, Elise Moeller had nine, and Abi Peyton added eight.

Maddie Kauffman led Rochester with 11 points.

Eastland 54, DeKalb 50: The Class 1A Cougars outscored the 4A Barbs 32-21 in the second half to rally for a victory in the 'B' bracket semifinals in Rockford.

Erin Henze poured in 26 points to go with seven assists and five steals for Eastland (17-1). Lydia Coatney had 10 points, seven rebounds and three assists, and Meredith Janssen and Karlie Krogman scored nine points apiece. Krogman added eight rebounds and three steals, and Janssen chipped in seven boards.

Eastland 58, Aquin 49: The Cougars won the 'B' bracket by pulling away from a 30-27 halftime lead against the fellow NUIC foe Bulldogs.

Henze had 19 points, six assists, five rebounds and four steals on her way to all-tournament team honors, and Coatney joined her on that squad after finishing with 11 points and seven boards. Janssen added 12 points, four rebounds and three assists, and Krogman chipped in 11 poinrs, five steals and four rebounds.

Warkins Classic

Mercer County 47, Bureau Valley 38: The Storm were outscored 23-14 in the second and third quarters in their finale in Erie.

Kamryn Kolb, Kyra Stoller and Carly Konneck all scored six points for BV, with Morgan Ringle and Shelby Hardy finishing with five each in a balanced effort.

Karli Stineman scored 17 to lead the Golden Eagles.

Monmouth-Roseville 60, Fulton 55: The Steamers led 20-11 after one quarter and 32-23 at halftime, but were outscored 37-23 in the second half in Erie.

Emily Schipper had 21 points to lead Fulton, and she was named to the all-tournament team. Kylie Collachia scored 10, and Kearston Norman added nine.

Carly Gillen's game-high 21 points paced the Titans.

Rockridge 43, Erie-Prophetstown 16: The Panthers trailed just 10-7 after the first quarter, but then were outscored 12-1 in the second and 16-3 in the third in their own tournamernt finale.

Alex Cannavo scored six points, and Kara Schipper added five for EP. Kierney McDonald's 14 points led the Rockets.

Warkins Tournament

Fulton 70, Stark County 37: Connor Barnett tossed in 20 points and Bradlee Damhoff added 18 as the Steamers cruised past the Rebels.

Kyler Pessman chipped in 11 points for Fulton (10-5).

Ryan Murphy scored 19 points for Stark County.

Morrison 56, Mercer County 47: The Mustangs used a 27-18 scoring edge in the second and third quarters to win their finale in Erie.

T.C. Ottens had a game-high 19 points for Morrison, and Ashton Smith scored 11. Ottens was an all-tournament selection.

Seth Crawley led the Golden Eagles with 16 points.

Eastland Holiday Tournament

Eastland 66, Forreston 33: The Cougars claimed third place at their own tournament, outscoring the Cardinals 50-20 after the first quarter.

Drew Burkholder hit five 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 20 points for Eastland. Carson Clouse added 15 points, and Kaden Henze scored 11. Brock Coatney and Lane Christians were named to the all-tournament team.

Ethan Greenfield paced Forreston with 14 points.

South Beloit 59, Amboy 24: The Clippers fell behind 14-5 after one quarter, then were outscored 14-1 in the second period in the seventh-place game in Lanark.

Ian Eller had eight points, and Preston Henkel scored seven for Amboy. Miles Beckham led the SoBos with 16 points.
