Hampshire junior Kelby Bannerman scored 24 points and passed 1,000 for her career, but the Whip-Purs lost to Buffalo Grove, 56-46, in their game at Dundee-Crown’s 37th annual Komaromy Classic.
Hampshire (9-8) trailed by three at halftime and by eight at the end of the third quarter.
Bannerman, a 6-foot forward, needed 20 points coming into the game to reach 1,000 for her career.
Katie Del Re added 13 points for the Whips.
Burlington Central 61, McHenry 49: At Boylan's Reindeer Games Tournament in Rockford, the Rockets defeated the Warriors (15-3) in a championship game battle between two FVC teams.
Ashley Wachter hit six 3-pointers to lead the Warriors with 18 points. Ava Interrante added 15 points, and Katie Beyer scored 14.
McHenry 55, Belvidere North 48: At Rockford, the Warriors were led by Interrante's 20 points as they defeated the Blue Thunder in their Boylan Reindeer Games Tournament semifinal.
Beyer (12), Wachter (11) and Marissa Hanley (10) all finished in double figures for McHenry.
Harvard 40, North Boone 36: At Harvard, Lauren Shafer scored her career-high 18 points to lead the Hornets (8-8) in a nonconference win over the Vikings.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Huntley 53, Hononegah 44: At the 92nd annual Chuck Dayton Classic in DeKalb, Ryan Vrugt hit four 3s and scored 16 points as the Red Raiders (10-3) defeated the Indians for fifth place.
Uchenna Egekeze scored 11 points and grabbed six rebounds for the Raiders and was named to the all-tournament team. Ryan Crosby hit two 3s and scored eight points, Ryan Sroka added eight points and seven rebounds.
Yorkville 50, Dundee-Crown 48: At the Chuck Dayton Classic in DeKalb, Kyle Huber hit five 3s and scored 20 points to lead the Chargers (6-6) in their loss to the Foxes in the seventh-place game.
Justin Prusko scored nine points and grabbed six rebounds. Jason Huber added seven points and a team-high seven rebounds
McHenry 51, Holy Trinity 32: At the Maine East Holiday Tournament in Park Ridge, Brett Loeding scored 17 points as the Warriors (3-9) defeated the Tigers.
Loeding was 6 of 6 from the free-throw line. Matt Gallimore added eight points and hit a pair of 3s. Kyle Kaempf, Carter Foat and Adam Benton each scored seven.
